Homemade Hummus Recipe

Try this quick, easy to make hummus recipe today for a filling, healthy snack.

Patricia Hertz, registered dietitian with the  Center for Fitness & Health at Shady Grove Medical Center,  recommended this delicious hummus recipe as a great snack for all ages. Try serving it well bell peppers to pack on the nutrients!

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, half the liquid reserved

  • 4 tablespoons of lemon juice

  • 2 tablespoons of tahini

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Chop the garlic in a blender.
  2. Pour the garbanzo beans into the blender. Save about one tablespoon for garnish. Add the reserved liquid, lemon juice, tahini, and salt to the blender. Blend until creamy and well mixed.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a medium serving bowl. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle the pepper over the top.
  4. Garnish with reserved garbanzo beans.
