Post Graduation Q&A with Johanna
We spoke with Johanna following graduation after his six weeks in the Academy to see how things were going. Here's what he told us.
After completing the Academy, how prepared did you feel for the CNA role?
After completing the CNA role, I felt very prepared. The academy instructors made sure we were very prepared for the real world working as a CNA.
What has it been like to work as a CNA since completing the Academy?
Working as a CNA has been very rewarding. You get to work very close with patients and get to learn so much about them.
Is being a CNA different than what you expected prior to the Academy? If so, how?
I knew the roles of the CNA in the medical field. But, before finishing the CNA Academy I thought it was going to be extremely difficult but now I see how the work is properly divided and we are given work that we can properly handle.
What's one thing you wish you knew before you started the program?
One thing I wish I’d known before starting the program, is how dedicated our instructors were in teaching us everything we needed to know. I know feel prepared working as a CNA.
What advice would you give to someone considering this program?
An advice I would give someone if they are considering this program is to apply and go for it. It’s a great opportunity to enter the medical field and you will see everything from a different point of view.
What characteristics should a candidate have to be successful in the CNA Academy?
In order to be successful in the program you have to be punctual with your time and organized. It’s important to attend everyday as each day was something knew that we learned and organized because you don’t want to feel like you’re behind something.
What was your favorite part of the program?
My favorite part of the program was how close we all got to each other. We all got to see each other go into the real world as CNA’s.
What is your biggest take-away from the program?
My biggest take away was to never let anything get in the way of things that I’ve always wanted to do in life. It’s always good to work for what you want and give it your best.
Would you recommend this program to others who want to enter the healthcare field?
I would strongly recommend this program to anyone who wants to enter the healthcare field. You learn a lot and also have a team of people who encourage you and are there for you as well.
