Week 6 Q&A with Johanna

We spoke with Johanna following her sixth week in the Academy to see how things were going. Here's what she told us.

What was something an instructor taught you this week?

This week I was able to provided bed baths and CHG baths. I was able to see what a difference it makes for patients, feeling clean and bathed helps them feel better.

Did you learn anything that surprised you?

I was able to assist in mobilizing patients. It’s actually isn't as easy. I learned how important it is to have proper body alignment to prevent any back injuries. You’d be surprised how heavy patients are. It takes a team to get the work done.

What excited you this week?

What excited me the most was knowing I am helping patients. I love seeing smiles on their faces.

What challenged you this week?

What challenged me the most was being with different preceptors each day but it also helped me. I was able to see how everyone does everything differently so it’s important to manage your time.

What has the experience been like with your fellow trainees?

I feel that all the CNA’s I’ve been assigned to have been very helpful and patient. They’ve given me helpful advice and have allowed me to participate in many skills.

On a scale of 1-10 how difficult was this week?

This week I would say has been a 5. Each day has been something new in each unit I’ve been at.
