Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation Rockville Ranks No. 1 in the region

When patients decide where to go for rehabilitation as they recover from illness or injury, they have a wide selection from which to choose. To simplify their decision-making, Newsweek joined forces with Statista Inc., a global market research and data firm, to rank the Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers in the U.S.

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation Rockville stood apart from the crowd as regional leader, earning the No. 1 spot on that list.

“We serve a diverse community of patients who demand the best in treatment,” said Brent Reitz, president of Post-Acute Services at Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation. “It’s an honor to serve them. Our focus has always been on getting people back to their lives.”

Rankings were based on an online survey of more than 4,400 physical rehabilitation professionals. Rankings involved more than 255 inpatient facilities across the U.S. Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation scored 76.85%, making it the highest-ranked facility in the South, and scored highest on reputation, recommendations, accreditation standards and specialty services.

Comprehensive, Specialty Care

At Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation, a dedicated team plays a key role in providing quality patient care. Strong partnerships between Adventist HealthCare therapists and physicians and the people they serve help each patient achieve their individual treatment goals.

Board-certified physicians and subspecialists work together to provide patients with high-quality care tailored to their unique needs. Care staff members specialize in multiple areas, including:

  • Cardiology
  • Infectious disease
  • Internal medicine
  • Orthopedics
  • Physiatry
  • Physical therapy

Certified rehabilitation experts use leading-edge technology to deliver some of the most specialized care in Montgomery County.

Committed to Excellence

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation adheres to rigorous industry standards set by the Commission on Accredited Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). These criteria are updated with a triannual inspection process that involves full staff participation and evaluation to maintain the standards of care. The only CARF-accredited acute rehabilitation center in Montgomery County, Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation has four CARF-accredited specialty programs focused on:

•     Amputation

•     Brain injury

•     Spinal cord injury

•     Stroke

Each of these specialty programs has maintained CARF accreditation since its inception.

Additionally, Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation uses the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality standards put forth by the American Society for Quality to guide their pursuit of ongoing quality care.

“Using the Baldridge model of national quality standards created by the federal government helps establish our comprehensive systems and processes,” Brent said. “It allows other programs to utilize our standards of excellence while giving us greater insight into how our programs function and how we can best improve in the future.”

What’s Next for Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation?

A No. 1 ranking does not mean Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation is slowing down anytime soon.

“Our growth plans as a facility and as providers continue,” Brent said. “Looking toward the future, we’re creating and expanding on additional treatment services to meet our community’s needs.”

These include:

  • Two additional inpatient locations – Since the successful opening of Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation White Oak, Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation plans to open two additional inpatient locations to meet demands for more inpatient beds.
  • Sports performance program – Through partnerships with community sports teams and area programs, Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation will expand its sports performance programming.

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation has never been more prepared to continue its legacy of comprehensive patient care using innovative methods.

“Our team includes some of the most caring, compassionate people you can find,” Brent said. “They’re open, honest and collaborative. We are brought together by our mission, which really differentiates us from other providers.”
