Spring Cleaning

Spring is finally here, and for many of us, that means it’s time for a spring clean!

Cleaning is a great way to de-clutter, de-stress, reduce allergens, and boost your mood. Spring cleaning provides an opportunity to donate unwanted items, spend time with your family, or even get in a quick workout.

It is often not until we take a moment to go through our belongings that we realize how much stuff we actually have. This spring, go through clothes, toys, books, and other gently used items to decide what you want to keep, and what you can give away. This frees up space in your home and allows you to donate items to a good cause.

A great way to tackle spring cleaning is to get the whole family involved. Make a list of tasks and have family members choose which task they’d like to work on. Try turning it into a dance party by playing your favorite music, or making it into a competition of who can clean one space the fastest. This can also turn your cleaning operation into a workout! 30 minutes of cleaning can increase your heart rate and help tone your muscles.

Spring cleaning doesn’t only have to apply to your home. Take the opportunity to organize your car or office space as well. A clean and organized environment will help reduce stress levels and leave you feeling more relaxed.   • Kitchen – Go through the refrigerator and throw away any expired food items. Clean and disinfect all countertops.
  • Bedroom – De-clutter your closet by donating clothes that you don’t wear.
  • Bathroom – Go through your medicine cabinet and throw out any expired medicine.
  • Living Areas – Vacuum carpets and dust all surfaces. By getting rid of dust, you may even see your allergies improve!
