Summer's a time where we kinda break through our regular routines, and sometimes that includes our exercise routine. WGTS 91.9. Hey. I'm Claude and that's Summer, and we wanna help you break that breaking the routine thing, if that makes any sense.
So many people headed out on vacation or maybe just getting back from vacation and, like, you just hadn't exercised in a while. Maybe you didn't like the hotel gym or maybe you just didn't feel like it because you wanted to relax. Well, Jason Herron, exercise physiologist with Adventist HealthCare Sports Performance Institute is with us to discuss easy ways to keep that fitness routine going during the summer.
Alright, Jason. Let's be real. I I have a packed schedule. I'm on vacation, and I just wanna relax. So how do I fit in workouts that don't feel like a chore?
Yeah. That's a great question. The key is to be flexible and creative. You could fit in short high intensity workouts like a twenty minute HIIT session, quick body weight circuit, And you can also incorporate physical activities into the vacation plans like hiking, swimming, or even biking. Even taking a brisk walk on the beach might be a great form of a workout.
All right. So so what are some exercises I can do without all the, you know, accoutrement, the gym, the gym equipment?
Yeah. There are plenty of exercises you can do without equipment. Think about body weight exercises such as push ups, squats, lunges, and planks. You can also try yoga or pilates, which require very minimal equipment. These exercises can be done anywhere and easy to take with you on the go.
And it's not even about access, Jason. It's about motivation. Right? So how on earth do I stay motivated to work out when I'm on vacation?
Yeah. Staying motivated can be a little challenging, but setting small achievable goals can help. Try to make your workouts fun and varied. You can also involve your travel companions in your fitness routine because accountability is the best way to stay consistent.
Alright. There it is. Because of Jason, there's no excuse. Thank you so much, Jason Herron, exercise physiologist with Adventist HealthCare Sports Performance Institute.
