Fun Fact
Patrick's first breath resulted in a popped lung, requiring him to stay in the ICU for several days until he recovered. His mother, who worked as an ER nurse in that very hospital, had her coworkers set up a cot in a storage room so she could stay close, as the hospital's policy at the time was to send mother's home after the birth. Hearing this story as he grew up, instilled the lesson that every breath is precious and that no one should ever underestimate the resilience of life. Recovery from trauma is possible even when a person is at their most fragile.
