Statement on Apartment Fire in Silver Spring
UPDATE: 08/12/2016 - 0900 hours
As of 9 a.m. on Aug. 12, eight of the nine patients we received into our Emergency Department have been discharged. One patient remains admitted for observation as a precaution.
UPDATE: 08/11/2016 - 1400 hours
As of 2 p.m., we had received nine patients into our Emergency Department; one was transferred to another facility. Seven have been discharged and one patient has been admitted for observation as a precaution.

Takoma Park, MD — We are currently treating a few patients from the apartment building fire at the Flower Branch Apartments in Silver Spring, Md., which occurred around midnight. The thoughts and prayers of everyone here at our hospital are with all the victims and their family members affected by this terrible tragedy.
As of 10:30 a.m., we had received nine patients into our Emergency Department; one was transferred to another facility. Several have since been discharged and one patient has been admitted for observation as a precaution.
Because of federal patient privacy laws and out of respect for our patients and their families, we are not commenting any further.
