Carroll Avenue Bridge Near Hospital Re-Opens
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) re-opened the MD 195/Carroll Ave. Bridge located 100 yards south of Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital’s main Carroll Ave. entrance.
All detours have been lifted and motorists may resume normal travel across the bridge.
To finish other work on the project, crews may close a single lane in both directions of MD 195 in the bridge work zone, weekdays between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Work with no lane closures may take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through late summer.

Carroll Avenue Bridge Closure Puts Detours in Place Near Hospital
Takoma Park, Md.—The Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) State Highway Administration (SHA) has closed the MD 195/Carroll Ave. Bridge, located 100 yards south of Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital’s main Carroll Ave. entrance.
Drivers going south on Carroll Ave. off University Blvd. or Piney Branch Rd. can continue to access the hospital’s main Carroll Ave. entrance.
Detours are in place for drivers to follow when traveling north on Carroll Ave., off East-West Hwy. To avoid detours for those traveling off East-West Hwy., consider taking Sligo Creek Parkway or New Hampshire Ave. to University Blvd. and pick up Carroll Ave. from that direction.
Please note, Ride On bus routes 12 and 13 are also changed as a part of the bridge closure.
The State Highway Administration expects to reopen the bridge in July 2017 after the major bridge restoration project is complete.
