Adventist HealthCare LifeWork Strategies Recognizes Local Businesses for Workplace Flu Prevention
Gaithersburg, MD – On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, Adventist HealthCare LifeWork Strategies will recognize local businesses with the Flu Fighter award at the annual LifeWork Connections luncheon. Recipients receive the award for demonstrating a commitment to creating a healthier, flu-free workplace.
To be considered for the Flu Fighter award, employers are required to submit an application detailing their actions to keep employees healthy during the 2017 – 2018 flu season. The winners took proactive steps to prevent the spread of the flu in their workplaces, including implementing paid sick leave policies, encouraging sanitary workplace practices such as providing hand sanitizer, hand-washing posters and surface cleaner. All award recipients offered on-site flu vaccination clinics and most covered the cost of the vaccine for their employees.
“LifeWork Strategies is honored to present this award to businesses that demonstrate a commitment to keeping their employees healthy this flu season,” says Mindy Pierce, director of Benefits and Well-being for LifeWork Strategies. “Many of our winners have received this award in past years and recognize that preventing the spread of flu benefits employees, their families and the community.”
The “LifeWork Connections” luncheon on Wednesday, February 21 will also feature presentations from Adventist HealthCare and other experts on strategies to keeping employees healthy. The event will take place at the Universities of Shady Grove from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
