Adventist HealthCare Hospitals Earn Awards for High-Quality Care of Heart Attack Patients

White Oak Medical Center, Shady Grove Medical Center Receive American Heart Association Recognition

Gaithersburg, MD – Adventist HealthCare’s hospitals in Montgomery County have received national awards for their high-quality care of heart attack patients.

Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center has earned the 2020 Mission: Lifeline® STEMI Receiving Center Silver and NSTEMI Gold Quality Achievement awards from the American Heart Association (AHA).

"We are honored to receive these recognitions," says Anthony Stahl, president of White Oak Medical Center. "This is a testament to the expert, high-quality care that the Adventist HealthCare cardiac teams provide to our community every day."

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has achieved STEMI Receiving Center Silver Plus and NSTEMI Bronze awards for adherence to quality measures in treating patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Additionally, Shady Grove Medical Center was recognized with the 2020 Get with the Guidelines® Resuscitation Silver Plus distinction, for quality care of patients experiencing cardiac arrest while in the hospital.

"We are dedicated to improving the quality of care for our cardiac patients and these distinctions show the tremendous work our team is doing to accomplish that goal," said Dan Cochran, president of Shady Grove Medical Center.

The goal of AHA’s Mission: Lifeline program is to reduce system barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 911 call to EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge. The Get with the Guidelines Resuscitation program was developed to save the lives of those who experience in-hospital cardiac arrests by ensuring that caregivers consistently follow the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines.

"I would like to congratulate our teams on these prestigious and well-deserved achievements and thank them for their dedication to our patients," said John Sackett, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Adventist HealthCare.
