Adventist HealthCare Renames Clinically Integrated Network as Membership and Collaboration with Physicians Grows
Gaithersburg, MD – The clinically integrated network (CIN) led by Adventist HealthCare, One Health Quality Alliance, has been renamed “Adventist HealthCare Physician Alliance.” Since launching in 2015, the CIN has grown to over 1,900 community providers and has made substantial progress in improving the quality of care and reducing the total cost of care for its patient population.
As more community physicians look to align with Adventist HealthCare, which is a high-quality, lower cost healthcare system, a new name and brand was approved that reflects a stronger connection between Adventist HealthCare and the community physician members of the CIN, a growing membership across the Washington, D.C., region and a greater awareness as a leading clinically integrated network in the region.
Along with a growing membership that includes primary care and specialty care across the region, including the addition of the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan, improvements have been seen in the quality of care delivered by the network. “Since its inception, the clinically integrated network has worked to close gaps in care in the high-cost areas of diabetes management, Emergency room visits and hospital readmissions. We have also increased the resources provided to physician practices such as, nurse care managers that have been shown to help complex patients achieve health goals, behavioral health support and medication management,” says Mindi Cohen, DO, Medical Director of the Physician Alliance and co- founder of Comprehensive Primary Care, a large independent primary care practice with over 40 providers and 12 locations throughout the region.
The growth of clinically integrated networks like the Physician Alliance have increased in recent years as the healthcare environment, especially in the state of Maryland, has begun to move to value-based care models. Aaron Cohen, President of Adventist HealthCare’s Physician Enterprise and leading the Physician Alliance, shares “this change represents a shared commitment with independent, community physicians to improving the health in the communities we serve through a strong, aligned network of like-minded physicians connected specifically to the Adventist HealthCare health system.”
