Adventist HealthCare Hospitals Receive Continued High Marks in Patient Safety in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2025 Grades
Gaithersburg, MD – Adventist HealthCare hospitals have once again been recognized as among the best in Maryland for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that serves as a voice for healthcare consumers and purchasers.
White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD, earned its sixth consecutive “A,” Fort Washington Medical Center in Fort Washington, MD, received its second straight “A” and Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD, received high marks with its third consecutive “B” safety grade.
The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety. Grades are updated each fall and spring.
“We are honored for Adventist HealthCare’s acute-care hospitals to receive high distinctions from The Leapfrog Group,” said Patsy McNeil, MD, Executive Vice President & System Chief Medical Officer, Adventist HealthCare. “These recognitions reflect the hard work and passion of the medical providers, nurses and team members throughout our healthcare system and their dedication to providing the safest and highest quality care to our patients and community every day.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“My sincere congratulations to Adventist HealthCare for upholding patient safety standards through the system, demonstrating a long-term, organization-wide commitment by its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers to create a culture where patients come first,” said Leah Binder, President & CEO, The Leapfrog Group.
