Adventist HealthCare Hospitals Receive National Recognition for Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Adventist HealthCare hospitals continue to earn high marks in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization.

Fort Washington Medical Center in Fort Washington, MD, and White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD, earned “A” grades. Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD, also received high marks with a “B” safety grade.

“We are elated to receive this distinction from The Leapfrog Group for the second year in a row,” said Daffodil Baez, president, Fort Washington Medical Center. “Every day, our physicians, nurses, and team members work tirelessly to provide the highest quality care, ensuring a safe environment for our patients and community. This recognition reflects their hard work and passion for excellence in healthcare."

“We are incredibly proud to receive a fifth consecutive ‘A’ safety grade from The Leapfrog Group,” said Anthony Stahl, president, White Oak Medical Center. “This recognition reflects the unwavering commitment, steadfast dedication, and collaboration of our entire team to ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality. It is an honor to care for our patients and community."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Adventist HealthCare, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
