Inpatient Mental Health for Adults
Build a path to mental wellness at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center. Our emergency room (ER) may recommend the hospital’s adult mental health units for your safety. We’ll help you get to a stable place with your health and start your journey to a more empowered life.
When to Seek Medical Attention
Call 988 or go to your nearest ER if you:
- Have persistent, overwhelming feelings of hurting yourself or someone else
- See or hear things that aren’t real
If you call or text 988, you’ll talk to a counselor who can send local crisis responders to you. If you come to an Adventist HealthCare ER, a clinician will assess your needs and connect you to the right level of treatment.
Conditions We Treat
Your safest place for care may be our behavioral health units if you have difficulty in daily life due to severe, persistent:
- Anxiety
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Schizoaffective disorder
- Schizophrenia
You’ll receive care from a team skilled in helping people with suicidal behavior or psychosis (loss of contact with reality).
