Partial Hospitalization for Adults

Partial hospitalization gives you intensive mental health support while letting you live at home. Ask your doctor or therapist for a referral to this voluntary, 10-day program. It offers support from peers and professionals in a confidential, safe and therapeutic setting.

Program Length & Schedule

Adults take part in our program:

Personal Treatment Plan

When you join our program, we’ll work with you to make a path to recovery. Your treatment plan reflects your goals, challenges and strengths. That means you get personalized care tailored to your specific needs.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is the foundation of partial hospitalization. Each day, you’ll take part in four groups that may involve:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy – Helps you identify and change your patterns of thinking and acting for the better
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy – Teaches mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal skills
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy – Focuses on accepting what’s out of your control and committing to actions that align with your values
  • Mindfulness – Shows you how to focus on what’s happening now instead of worrying about the past or future
  • Peer support – Gives you opportunities to share stories and encouragement with others in your situation
  • Expressive therapy – Includes art, movement and music

Medication Management

Three times a week, you’ll see a psychiatrist. This doctor prescribes and manages medications for mental illnesses. The goal is to find the right medicine and dose that relieves your symptoms without causing too many side effects. Regular check-ins keep your treatment on track as you work toward recovery.

Family Involvement

Family support meetings are also a key part of your treatment. These sessions bring your loved ones into the recovery process to:

  • Educate them about your condition
  • Explain how they can help
  • Strengthen your relationships, so they can serve as a source of support over the long term

Discharge Planning

As you approach the end of treatment, we’ll help make sure you get the support you need after leaving the program. You’ll learn about our outpatient wellness clinic and other resources to help you stay on track.

Your Care Team

Look forward to support from:

  • Psychiatrist – Manages mental health medications
  • Registered nurse – Tends to your everyday health needs
  • Social workers and therapists – Help you process your emotions and develop skills for better mental health
  • Certified peer recovery specialist – Has experienced behavioral health challenges and is trained to provide encouragement and motivation
  • Behavioral health coordinator – Guides you through the treatment process and helps you access services
