Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center seeks volunteers, ages 15 and older, to help us achieve our vision of providing a world-class patient experience to every person, every time.
You Can Make a Difference
Each year, hundreds of volunteers dedicate thousands of hours to serving patients, visitors and staff at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, the Shady Grove Aquilino Cancer Center, Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation and the Adventist HealthCare corporate office in Gaithersburg.
Together, our volunteers contribute more than 100,000 hours of service annually, support nearly 60 hospital departments. They greet visitors at information desks, assist patients and families, support nursing units, help with clerical projects and brighten days in the gift shop. Their dedication Shady Grove Medical Center provide compassionate, high-quality care to everyone who walks through our doors.

Stepping Stones Program
Our Stepping Stones program offers pre-med and medical students the opportunity to shadow, interact with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals within Adventist HealthCare hospitals. For six to eight weeks from June through July, students observe and learn about the day-to-day activities in various units throughout the hospitals. Each student serves two four-hour shifts a week.
